visitors to the U.S.

2007 17.8 Million Canadians Visited the USA
Up 11% over 2006.

15 million Canadians had arrived in the U.S. in the eight
months previous up 11.5 percent from 2007. Canadians
account for 40% of foreign visitors to the USA maintaining
its status as the #1 ranked tourists generating country.
- In
2007 Canada also maintained top market status by posting
a fourth consecutive year of at least 7% annual growth.
The 2007 visitor level represents an increase of 21% since
2000, the year of the previous record for U.S. total visitor
volume. Canada accounted for 31.7% of total 2007 International
Visitors to the U.S.
- Ontario
produced 46% of all visitors to the U.S. in 2007.
Canadians
are a high yield visitor.
- Within
North America over 60% of Canadians still prefer to travel
by automobile on vacations.
- Florida
maintains the position as the favorite destination for Canadians.
- Top
States visited by Canadians New York, Florida, Michigan,
Washington, California, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont and
Ohio.
- Canadians
average length of stay on US visits is 7.4 nights
on average 3 nights longer than its American counterpart.
Canadian travelers provide a greater yield they travel
further stay longer.
- 8.5
million of Canadian visitors to the US in 2007 were there
to participate in sports and outdoor activities.

- In
2007, Canadian visitors spent over $16.2 billion in the
U.S., up 21% from 2006
- Canadian
visitors opened up their wallets wider than ever before
and became the top international market for U.S. travel
and tourism exports. Canadian visitors pumped more than
$16.2 billion in the US economy in 2007, breaking their
previous record for the 4th consecutive year.
- In
the 3rd quarter of 2008 Canadian spending in the US increased
by 4.2%.
Overseas

In 2008 Canadians made 23.5 million trips abroad and increase
of 9.7% over 2007.
